LUKAS Gold Leaf Mixture 3h is a specialised adhesive for gold leaf application. Apply the mixture evenly and allow it to dry until the surface becomes slightly tacky, typically within 3 to 5 hours. The adhesive remains open for gilding for 4 to 6 hours, providing ample working time to lay genuine gold leaf. After application, smooth the leaf from centre to edge using a cotton swab or suitable burnishing tool. Allow the gilded surface to cure for one week before applying any sealing or glazing.

This mixture can be thinned with citrus turpentine for easier application. Porous substrates should be sealed to create a smooth base for gilding, with LUKAS Shellac Solution recommended for sealing gilded surfaces on interior works.
