The LUKAS Gel Retarder slows the drying time of Acrylic paints, extending their “open time” to allow for longer “wet-on-wet” painting. The more retarder added, the greater the transparency of the colours. This gel is mixed directly into Acrylic paint and dries waterproof. Its gel consistency reduces collapse after drying compared to liquid forms.

Acrylic paints typically dry very quickly, with thin layers setting in as little as five minutes and thicker coats drying overnight. To alter this rapid drying behaviour, drying retarders such as this gel are used to provide more working time.
